MILLVILLE- 5 BRIDGE REPLACEMENTS ON CENTRAL STREET, BR# M-24-001, M-24-002, M-24-003, M-24-006 & M-24-007
The Millville Contract 2 includes the reconstruction of 5 replacement bridges and approximately 1800 feet of roadway along Central Street and Main Street in the Town of Millville. Two of the bridges span over branches of the Blackstone River. Two other bridges span old canals (or raceways) adjacent to the river. These four bridges are in deteriorated condition and will be entirely reconstructed as part of the project. The fifth bridge is a temporary panel bridge spanning over the P&W railroad. The temporary bridge was recently constructed as part of “Millville Contract 1”. The intent of Contract 1 was to provide increased vertical clearance over the railroad in advance of reconstructing the other 4 bridges along Central Street. The project includes the necessary roadway reconstruction along Central Street, Lincoln Street and Main Street to accomplish the bridge work. Central Street will be widened by about 10 feet to the West to provide for an additional sidewalk and adequate roadway width for staged construction. Main Street will be shifted to the North by about 10 feet at the intersection with Central Street to provide improved intersection geometry. Properties at the Northeast and Northwest corners of Main and Lincoln Streets will be acquired by spot taking to provide the necessary right-of-way at the Intersection.
