HADLEY- NORTHAMPTON- RECONSTRUCTION OF ROUTE 9 (RUSSELL STREET)

The reconstruction project begins at Aqua Vitae Road and proceeds easterly to Whalley Street for a total distance of approximately 1.1 miles. The existing roadway varies in width from 35 to 45 feet. The proposed roadway will consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, two 11½-foot travel lanes and 2½-foot paved shoulders, for a total roadway width of 52 feet. In addition, an 11-foot left turn lane will be provided at the Bay Road intersection. Additional proposed improvements include concrete wheelchair ramps and sidewalks, new traffic signals at Bay Road, waterworks and drainage improvements, vegetated swales; asphalt berms, granite curbing and edging.
