DARTMOUTH- NEW BEDFORD- IMPROVEMENTS ON DARTMOUTH STREET, FROM ROCKDALE AVENUE TO ROGER STREET (3R PROJECT)

The revised project limits now include the section of Dartmouth Street between Rockdale Avenue and Cove Road thereby creating a continuous project from the Rockdale Avenue to the Rogers Street Intersection. Approximately 1400 LF. of roadway will be added to the project. The improvements at the three intersections are: 1) Dartmouth Street at Rockdale Avenue - install a new fully actuated traffic signal for the left-turn phase with pavement widening on the Rockdale Avenue eastbound & westbound right-turn lanes. Left turns will be prohibited when exiting from the Bank of America/McDonalds driveway onto Rockdale Avenue. 2) Dartmouth Street at Cove Road/GarfieldStreet/Russells Mills Road. Work at this location will include the installation of traffic signals coordinated with location number 3. Russell Mills Road will be converted to a two-way roadway and a new dedicated right-turn lane will be constructed for the Dartmouth Street southbound approach at the Cove Road intersection. 3) Dartmouth Street at Rodgers Street. All three new traffic signals will include a protected pedestrian phase, and all three intersections will include new cross walks, wheelchair ramps and sidewalk improvements on all approaches.
