LAWRENCE- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, (PED) L-04-017 & (NEW) L-04-051, CANAL STREET OVER THE SPICKETT RIVER, PF #602299

A new 3-span steel arch bridge totaling 204 feet will span over the existing historical stone masonry arch bridge. The historic bridge will be rehabilitated and converted to a garden for pedestrian use. The new gateway bridge will begin at the intersection of Canal Street with Prospect and Marston Streets. At this intersection, Canal Street will have 4 travel lanes, a 6 foot median, two 5 foot sidewalks and a left turning lane from Canal Street to Prospect Street. The four lanes taper to two lanes after crossing the canal. This configuration allows two lanes of traffic to cross from Marston Street to Canal Street, and allows one lane of Prospect Street to turn right onto Canal Street and one lane of Prospect Street to turn left onto Marston Street.
