ANDOVER- RECONSTRUCTION OF ROUTE 28 (MAIN STREET), FROM WHEELER STREET TO THE SHAWSHEEN RIVER

The proposed 1.1 mile roadway reconstruction, from just north of School Street to the intersection of Main Street and North Street, extends from residential neighborhoods to the downtown business district, where high pedestrian concentrations will be enhanced with new pedestrian actuated signal systems, new handicapped ramps and bicycle accommodations. New traffic signals at major intersection will process traffic more efficiently. Other improvements include turning lanes, new street lighting, new trees and grates, benches, trash receptacles and bike racks in the downtown area.
