HOLYOKE- CANAL WALK EXTENSION (2ND LEVEL CANAL), FROM APPLETON STREET TO DWIGHT STREET (PHASE II), INCLUDES REHAB OF H-21-062
This project is the second phase of a 9000 foot pedestrian walkway in the historic canal area beginning at Holyoke Heritage State Park. This section focuses on the 2nd Level Canal at Race Street from Appleton Street to Dwight Street. It includes acquiring the right of way then demolishing and rebuilding a loading dock and another structure at another location. Sidewalks will be reconstructed on Appleton and Dwight Streets to provide a connection to Phase 1. The Abandoned RR over 2nd level canal (H-21-062) will be rehabilitated for pedestrian use. This bridge work will mainly involve the deck and railings, and minor repairs to the bridge piers. The total length of the project is approximately 3,000 feet (0.57 miles).
