Project Description:
WORCESTER- BRIDGE REHABILITATION, BR# W-44-082 ROUTE I-290 EB & WB OVER CSX R.R. AND VARIOUS CITY STREETS
Work on this project involves the replacement of the bridge deck on I-290 through the raised section of highway in downtown Worcester. The work area will begin at the I-290/Grafton Street ramps and continue easterly to a point just east of the Shrewsbury Street ramp. This structure crosses over several city streets, the commuter rail (CSX Railroad) and several parking lots. Work during the 2004 construction season comprises the full removal and replacement of the Eastbound deck. Work during the 2005 construction season comprises the same scope but on the westbound deck. Traffic on I-290 through the work area is restricted to two lanes in each direction. This will be the case during the deck replacements, but all lanes will open during the winter months.
