EDGARTOWN- OAK BLUFFS- BRIDGE REPLACEMENTS OVER SENGEKONTACKET INLET, E-07-001=O-01-002, BEACH ROAD & O-01-003 EDGARTOWN ROAD

The work under this project consists of the replacement of the “big” and “little” bridges, on Beach Road/Seaview Avenue over the Sengekontacket Inlets. The proposed bridges will be constructed in two stages in order to maintain vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic during construction. The bridge construction will occur during the tourist off-season. The 241 foot long existing sixteen span timber "Big" bridge will be replaced with a 4 span precast concrete structure with a 29.5 foot wide asphalt wearing surface and timber sidewalks and railings on both sides. A timber fishing platform will also be constructed on both sides of the bridge. The existing 60 foot long four span timber framed structure will be replaced with a single span precast concrete structure which will support a 29.5 foot wide asphalt wearing surface and timber sidewalks and railings on both sides of the bridge. On the west side of both bridges, bicycle accommodation will be provided along with the handicap accessible sidewalks.
