Project Description:
FALMOUTH- BRIDGE REHABILITATION, F-03-005, WATER STREET OVER EEL POND
The work under this project consists of a bascule (movable) bridge replacement which carries Water Street over Eel Pond Channel. The existing horizontal and vertical under clearances will remain unchanged. The work will mainly involve reconstruction of the bridge abutments, complete replacement of the moveable deck structure and all the machinery and electrical components, full depth roadway construction along the approaches to the bridge on Water Street, sidewalk reconstruction, and replacement of the bridge tender’s house. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic during construction and a detour route established around Eel Pond. A temporary pedestrian crossing will be provided for the duration of construction through the tourist off-season.
