Project Description:
BOSTON- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, B-16-167, RIVER STREET OVER MBTA
The purpose of this project is to replace the existing structurally deficient bridge carrying River Street over the MBTA railroad tracks with a new shorter bridge (29 feet). The new bridge will be constructed using accelerated construction techniques. Without disturbing traffic, new abutments will be constructed under the bridge while the new bridge structure will be pre-built adjacent to the bridge site. The road will be closed for 10 days while the old bridge is removed and the new bridge will be lifted into place in one piece. The new bridge will provide a wider roadway (39+ feet curb to curb), and two 6.5 feet sidewalks.
