Project Description:
LOWELL- SIGNAL & INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT CHELMSFORD STREET (ROUTE 110), PLAIN STREET AND POWELL STREET
This project will enhance safety and improve the efficiency of traffic flow at the intersection of Chelmsford Street (Route 110), Plain Street and Powell Street, by replacing the outdated traffic signals with a new, fully actuated traffic signal installation. A significant geometric improvement will be the conversion of Powell Street to a one-way street with traffic heading away from Chelmsford Street toward Parker Street. Other improvements include adjustments to turning radii, installation of an exclusive push-button pedestrian phase, wheelchair ramps, crosswalks and new signs and pavement markings.
