MARSHFIELD- SCITUATE- BRIDGE REPLACEMENTS, BR# M-07-019=S-07-014, JULIEN STREET OVER THE SOUTH RIVER AND BR# M-07-003=S-07-003, SEA STREET OVER THE SOUTH RIVER (CAPT. FRED. STANLEY BRIDGE)

This bridge project includes the demolition and removal of timber piers, wingwalls, partial removal of abutments, and removal of the timber superstructure. The work consists of the construction of a five span concrete bridge, two concrete abutments, four wingwalls, four concrete filled steel pipe piers, and the reconstruction of approximately 400 feet of the Bayberry Road/Julian Street bridge approaches. The bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic during construction and traffic will be diverted away from the site through a detour route. Also, the proposed Captain Stanley Bridge will replace the existing wooden bridge with an eight span pre-cast concrete bridge. Sidewalks and lighting will also be added. The adjacent intersections will also be made handicap accessible. Passage below the bridge by boat traffic will be enhanced with a wider channel and greater vertical clearance than the existing bridge.
