NORTON- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, N-23-017, PLAIN STREET OVER THE CANOE RIVER
The purpose of this project is the replace the bridge carrying Plain Street over the Canoe River. The existing structure is a 21 foot corrugated pipe culvert which is now structurally deficient. The original culvert constructed in 1960 has a 24 feet curb to curb roadway width and one 6 feet sidewalk on the north side with a 5 feet utility pipe next to it. The out-to-out width of the existing culvert is 37.4 feet. It is anticipated that the structure will be replaced with a single span (spread prestressed concrete deck beam supestructure supported by integral abutments on H-piles) of approximately 36.5 feet. The proposed curb to curb width of the roadway over the bridge is 30 feet with a 5.5 feet sidewalk on the north side. The length of the project is 523.47 feet. The roadway is functionally classified as a local road. There will be minor roadway reconstruction and resurfacing work approaching the bridge.
