PITTSFIELD- SOUTH STREET (ROUTE 7) STREETSCAPE ENHANCEMENT (PHASE I)

This project has two locations: a 1400-foot portion of South Street from Housatonic Street north to the intersection of West and East Streets and a 470-foot portion of Union Street from Center Street east to North Street. Pavement markings and signage will be upgraded. Most existing crosswalks within the project limits will be built with paver surfaces. Sidewalks at both locations will be reconstructed with cement concrete and accent pavers in various locations edged by granite curbing and will be Americans with Disabilities Act compliant. East-bound on Union Street the curb will be moved to allow for a widened cross section with 11-foot wide eastbound and westbound travel lanes and an 8-foot parking lane on the eastbound side of Union Street. The 6.5-foot grass strip on the westbound travel lane of Union Street will be retained.
