BOSTON- CAMBRIDGE- DAM BRIDGE REHABILITATION, B-16-013=C-01-019, CHARLES RIVER DAM ROAD (STATE ROUTE 28) OVER THE CHARLES RIVER (CRAIGIE BRIDGE) & DRAWBRIDGE REHABILITATION
Formerly #605530. Charles River Dam Road between Leverett Circle, Boston and O’Brien Highway Cambridge serves approximately 40,000 vehicles daily combined between the northbound and southbound travel lanes. The dam structure is 100 years old but no longer operational for water control or navigational purposes. The Craigie Drawbridge was built in 1910 and since replaced in 1963. It is structurally deficient. The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) owns the structures. DCR, with MassHighway assistance, will manage and administer the design contract. MassHighway will advertise and construct the project.
