CHESTERFIELD- RECONSTRUCTION OF EAST STREET, INCLUDES CULVERT REPLACEMENT OF C-12-026 (BAKER BROOK)

This project begins at the Westhampton Town Line and proceeds north-westerly for 3.08 miles to the intersection of South Street. The roadway currently exhibits potholes, alligator and block cracking, delaminating, raveling and rutting. Proposed improvements would include reclaiming the existing roadway, resurfacing with hot mix asphalt, drainage improvements, guardrail installation, and intersection improvements at Stage Road to improve visibility for turning vehicles. Drainage improvements include the installation of cross-drains and sub-drain and replacing a deteriorating steel culvert, four feet in diameter, with a concrete box culvert wide enough to allow the installation of guard rail. The Baker Brook culvert crossing is approximately 1100 feet west of the Stage Road intersection. New pavement markings and traffic signs, including “Share the Road” signs are proposed to improve safety for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians who use this road.
