Project Description:
HUDSON- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, H-25-003, STATE ROUTE 85 (WASHINGTON STREET) OVER THE ASSABET RIVER
The project consists of replacing or rehabilitating the existing bridge carrying State Route 85 (Washington Street) over the Assabet River in the Town of Hudson. This segment of Route 85 is classified as an Urban Minor Arterial. The existing three span granite/earth filled spandrel arch bridge with a curb-to-curb width of 32 feet and a 6.7 foot sidewalk on each side is proposed to be upgraded to current highway standards. The rehabilitated or new structure and the approach roadways will be constructed within the existing footprint and right of way to the maximum extent possible in order to reduce impact. The most viable bridge option will be determined through the preliminary design process.
