BROCKTON- BRIDGE BETTERMENT, B-25-048, ROUTE 123 (BELMONT STREET) OVER ROUTE 24

This project consists of a replacing the superstructure of the Belmont Street Bridge over Route 24. The existing superstructure will be replaced with a 128’-2” continuous two span steel beam bridge. The proposed bridge will be 60 wide from curb to curb with a 4 foot wide raised median and a 7’-2” wide sidewalk on each side of the bridge. The roadway shall be cold planed and overlaid from station 24+00 to the west abutment (approximately 793 ft) and from the east abutment to station 41+45 (approximately 832 ft). The proposed roadway will provide two 12 foot travel lanes in each direction, replacing the existing 4 foot wide raised median in kind, and shoulders of varying width. Roadway reconstruction entails improvements to guardrail at the bridge, relocation/installation of approximately 400 feet of 12 inch ductile iron water main, pavement markings, and a section of new sidewalk. Traffic on Belmont Street will be reduced to a minimum of one lane in each direction during the bridge construction. Traffic on Route 24 shall have three lanes open in each direction during daytime construction and shifted as shown on the plans for construction required during night time hours.
