SPRINGFIELD- INTERSECTION & SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS ON ROOSEVELT AVENUE, PAGE BOULEVARD AND BAY STREET (MEMORIAL INDUSTRIAL PARK II)
The proposed improvements are for three intersections along the Roosevelt Avenue and Page Boulevard (Route 20A) corridors. (1) At the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Page Boulevard, three of the four approaches (the exception is Roosevelt Avenue north of the intersection) will be widened to accommodate an additional travel lane. The traffic signals will be updated and will include an exclusive pedestrian phase, bicycle detection and emergency vehicle pre-emption. (2) At the intersection of Page Blvd. and the I-291 westbound off-ramp, new traffic signals will be installed and these signals will be coordinated with the nearby Page Blvd./Roosevelt Ave. traffic signals. These new signals at the I-291 off-ramp will also have emergency vehicle pre-emption and bicycle detection. (3) At the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Bay Street, the traffic signals will be updated and will include push-button pedestrian signals, emergency vehicle pre-emption and bicycle detection. The westbound approach of Bay Street will also be widened to three lanes westbound and one lane eastbound, and there will be other minor geometric improvements as well.
