BERKLEY- DIGHTON- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT (TEMP) B-08-001=D-08-011, ELM STREET OVER THE TAUNTON RIVER

The work to be done under this Contract involves the construction of a single lane bi-directional temporary bypass road and bridge adjacent to the existing Bridge No B-08-001 = D-08-011 carrying Elm Street in the Town of Berkley and Center Street in the Town of Dighton over the Taunton River. In addition the existing superstructure and a portion of the abutments of the existing Bridge No B-08-001 = D-08-011 will be demolished. The proposed work for the construction of temporary Bridge No B-08-001 = D-08-011 includes but is not limited to; construction of a new driven pipe pile founded substructure; erection of a new superstructure consisting of 700XS Acrow Panel bridge system units owned by the Massachusetts Highway Department and procurement of sufficient additional units to make a complete single lane bridge structure; design and construction of a modular retaining wall supporting each approach roadway embankment; construction of approach roadways and reconstruction of the existing roadways to tie in to the bypass road. The work also includes construction of traffic signals; demolition of the existing Bridge No B-08-001=D-08-011 superstructure and portions of the abutments and other items required to complete the work as shown on the drawings, as listed in the proposal, as specified herein, and as directed.
