NORTHAMPTON- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT ROUTE 5 (PLEASANT STREET) AND CONZ STREET

The intersection of Pleasant Street and Conz Street is a documented high crash location, appearing in the list of 2009 HSIP Clusters in Pioneer Valley. Driveways intersect with Route 5 at this intersection, creating confusion and conflicts. High volumes result in delays. The current preferred alternative would convert the unsignalized intersection to a single-lane roundabout, resurface intersection approaches, and provide new pavement markings, sidewalks, wheelchair ramps and crosswalks, and bus pullouts.
