Project Description:
BROOKFIELD- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, B-26-002, SR 148 (FISKDALE ROAD) OVER THE QUABOAG RIVER
The existing two-span bridge is to be replaced with a single span superstructure of approximately 105 feet span. The superstructure system anticipated is either precast New England Boxed Tee or spread box beam stringers with an 8 inch HP 4000psi concrete deck and 3½ inch Hot Mix Asphalt wearing surface. The abutments are to be located behind the existing abutments, integral with the superstructure and supported on piles using the Bridge Manual details. The existing abutments shall be left in place to be part of the scour protection system and, if necessary, the construction dewatering system. They shall be cut down to facilitate inspection access to the new abutments and beam ends. The center pier shall be removed to either the mud line or the top of footing. This needs to be verified by the Geotechnical Report.
