PEABODY- TRAFFIC & SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS AT ROUTE 1 JUGHANDLE

The project will reconstruct the Peabody Route 1 Jug handle approach to provide a second lane for left turns. This will require some modifications to the median area on the southerly side of the intersection, including minor changes to the recently updated traffic signal equipment. Depending on design and operational considerations, the proposal could either retain the Route 1 southbound bypass lane or convert this lane to a shoulder or auxiliary lane for the several businesses located on Route 1 southbound immediately north of the intersection. Overhead signs on the jug handle approach and paving on Route 1 will be included as necessary.
