BOSTON- CAMBRIDGE- DECK REPLACEMENT, B-16-007=C-01-004, ROUTE 2 OVER SOLDIERS FIELD ROAD & CHARLES RIVER (BU BRIDGE)

The BU Bridge is undergoing a rehabilitation of the super-structure and bridge deck. The first phase was the replacement of the upstream sidewalk completed by Unified Construction Inc. The design consultant is STV Inc. of Boston. The bridge deck, including the sidewalks and vehicular surface, are in severe disrepair. These deficiencies result in the bridge being categorized as "structurally deficient" under the federal NBIS standards. Nevertheless, the substructure elements of the bridge have been determined to be sound.
