Project Description:
BOSTON- CAMBRIDGE- BRIDGE REHABILITATION, B-16-006=C-01-005, CAMBRIDGE ST/CHARLES RIV (RIVER ST BRIDGE) & B-16-377, CAMBRIDGE ST/SOLDIERS FIELD RD, B-16-010=C-01-006, WESTERN AVE/CHARLES RIV(WESTERN AVE BRIDGE) & B-16-375 WESTERN AVE/SOLDIERS FIELD RD
The River Street and Western Avenue Bridge Reconstruction project will rehabilitate the existing 3 lane bridges within their original footprints. The proposed design will continue to allow 3 travel lanes on each bridge with added bike lanes. As part of the project, the 5 study area intersections will be reconstructed to provide increased capacity and improve intersection operations. All new traffic signal equipment will be installed with modification to the phasing’s and timings. This reconstruction will enhance mobility for all roadway users and provide a more seamless transition between Boston and Cambridge.
