Project Description:
ARLINGTON- CAMBRIDGE- SOMERVILLE- ALEWIFE GREENWAY CORRIDOR RESTORATION (AKA MINUTEMAN BIKE PATH CONNECTOR)
An 8'-10'-wide stabilized aggregate path, asphalt and elevated boardwalk are planned on both the eastern and western sides of Alewife Brook between Route 2 and Mystic Valley Parkway. In order to avoid an existing cemetery, no pathway is proposed between Henderson Avenue and Broadway Avenue. Boardwalk installation is planned to occur in areas recognized as being particularly sensitive to foot-traffic (e.g., adjacent to and through isolated vegetated wetland). Invasive plants will be selectively removed in targeted locations within the project area.
