SPRINGFIELD- LIGHTING UPGRADES ON ROUTE I-91, FROM THE SOUTH END BRIDGE (ROUTE 5) TO STATE STREET

A lighting upgrade is required at this location due to the inadequacy of the existing system. This work will complete lighting upgrades from the Connecticut state line to the southerly limit of the viaduct section in Springfield. This short section of I-91 was not included under the previous lighting project (#600583 Longmeadow/Springfield completed July 2006) due to conflicts with another major project (Springfield I-91 weave elimination 602965 completed September 2006). The work will include new high-mast lighting standards, foundations, handholds, conduits and wires along the I-91 Median.
