QUINCY- BRIDGE REHABILITATION, Q-01-009, HANCOCK STREET OVER SAGAMORE STREET (PHASE II)

The purpose of this project is to replace the superstructure of the Hancock Street Bridge over Sagamore Street, the MBTA Red Lines and the MBTA Commuter Rail in the City of Ouincy. The work includes the complete superstructure replacement in Spans 1-3 and the rehabilitation of Span 4 where the existing beams are to remain. The new butted prestressed concrete beams in Spans 1 to 3 and the existing butted prestressed concrete beams in Span 4 will be overlain by a new 6" concrete deck slab and a hot mix asphalt (superpave) overlay. The structure shall remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction at all times during construction. Also included is the minor work on the roadway approaches to the limits shown on the Plans which includes, but is not limited to, minor roadway profile adjustments, excavation and removal of the existing pavement, placement of a new pavement structure, the installation of a water main, new highway guardrail transitions, the reconstruction of sections of sidewalk, the construction of new wheelchair ramps and the installation of new pavement markings and signs.
