Project Description:
WEBSTER- BRIDGE PRESERVATION, W-12-023, W-12-024, W-12-025 & W-12-026, ALONG I-395
The work for the bridges mentioned above shall consist of deck work, joint work; full cleaning and painting structural steel; reconstructing the bridge approach wearing surface for a few; reconstruct the approach sidewalk to one bridge; guardrail work, slope paving; patching deterioration in concrete surfaces of the abutments, piers and walls. The reinforced concrete use for the superstructure joint work, the sections of the deck partially needed to be replaced, shall be high performance reinforced concrete. The deck on most of these bridges is not in need of wearing surface. Bridges with the drainage pipe or the weep holes system thru the deck require extension of the pipes below the structural steel members. Full painting of the structural steel will be required for these bridges. All the structural steel will be designated for cleaning and painting. All the steel shall be cleaned and painted in accordance with the latest MassHighway Supplemental Specification Section 961”Maintance painting of steel bridges”. Substructure elements shall be repaired as required. Concrete deterioration and hollow sections shall be excavated and surfaces shall be patched as required. Missing slope paving will be replaced and cleaned as it is needed.
