Project Description:
HOLYOKE- SIGNAL & INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT HOMESTEAD AVENUE & LOWER WESTFIELD ROAD
The proposed project consists of widening both Lower Westfield Road and Homestead Avenue to add turning lanes and updating the traffic signals with new equipment. Shared accommodations for all users have been provided in accordance with applicable guidelines. The project will also include new sidewalks and wheelchair ramps, new curb and new striping and signage. The existing intersection is functionally deficient geometry and has an obsolete traffic signal system. The proposed improvements will be the first stage in a long range plan to improve traffic flow in the surrounding I-91 Exit 15 area.
