MONTAGUE- RESURFACING & RELATED WORK ON GREENFIELD ROAD, FROM TURNERS FALLS ROAD TO THE FUTURE BIKE/PED BRIDGE OVER THE B&M RAILROAD (1.75 MILES)
The project will rehabilitate the town-owned segment of Greenfield Road south of the B&M railroad in Montague, from the railroad to Turners Falls Road, for a total length of 1.73 miles. With the demolition of the Greenfield Road Bridge over the B&M railroad the northern 0.4 miles of the road is functionally a dead end. The resurfacing of Greenfield Road is required to fulfill an agreement made with the municipality when the decision to permanently remove the bridge was established. Roadway improvements will include drainage system repairs/upgrades and related work. Under a separate project, a pedestrian bridge is proposed to be constructed at the former highway bridge site to provide a link for bicycles and pedestrians with the rest of Greenfield Road to the north.
