Project Description:
BARNSTABLE- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT IYANOUGH ROAD (ROUTE 28) AND YARMOUTH ROAD
Work on this project consists of intersection reconstruction and traffic signal upgrades. The intent of the project is to improve safety and reduce congestion for all users at the intersection of Iyanough Road (Route 28) and Yarmouth Road. Additional approach turn lanes are required at the intersection to alleviate congestion and improve corridor/intersection level of service. A new traffic signal system will be installed. New rails, gates and signals will be installed for the rail crossing. A shared use path will be constructed on the west side of Yarmouth Road crossing at Route 28, then connecting to Engine House Road at the entrance to the intermodal center. The remaining quadrants will have new sidewalks. Also included in the project are to new pavement markings and signage.
