HINSDALE- PERU- RECONSTRUCTION OF SKYLINE TRAIL (MIDDLEFIELD ROAD)
This 2 mile long project begins at the intersection of Route 8 in Hinsdale and ends approximately 300 ft east of the Hinsdale/Peru town line. The current proposal is to rehabilitate the roadway by reclamation; placing a new bituminous surface over the reclaimed base. Two to three feet of widening is proposed to meet low speed, low volume road standards and to achieve consistent roadway width. Some minor geometric improvements at intersections are also proposed. The existing “open” drainage system will be rehabilitated; maintaining existing discharge locations, and adding inlet structures where needed. A 5-ft by 7-ft concrete box culvert will be rehabilitated, and stone aprons will be placed at various outlets to prevent erosion. Unpaved shoulders will be re-graded and protected with dense graded crushed stone. Other disturbed areas will receive loam and seed. Existing guardrail will be replaced or upgraded as needed. New guardrail will be installed at select locations as warranted. New traffic signs and pavement markings will also be included in the project.
