Project Description:
LANESBOROUGH- PITTSFIELD- ASHUWILLTICOOK RAIL TRAIL EXTENSION TO CRANE AVENUE
This project would utilize an existing Right of Way owned by the Housatonic RR, to be sold to the City under a transportation lease agreement with MassDOT. The project would convert 1.5 miles of track into a 10-ft wide paved bike-path, with a cross-section consistent with the rest of the rail-trail to the north. The project would connect the popular Ashuwillticook rail-trail to the region’s largest municipality, in an area of Pittsfield which has the highest density of commercial/retail businesses in the County.
