ATHOL- CHICOPEE- EASTHAMPTON- NORTHAMPTON- RESURFACING & RELATED WORK AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS

The Interstate 91 portion consists of pavement milling of sections of the north and southbound travel lanes in the cities of Easthampton and Northampton. The pavement milling will reduce the current rutted sections within all travel lanes. The project begins at mile marker 20.8 and continues northerly and terminates at mile marker 26.97. The total length of the project is approximately 6.1 miles. The project shall not include any bridge work or interchange ramp work within the project limits. The Athol (Route 2A) portion consists of overlaying a section South Main Street. The project begins at mile marker 22.75 and continues east and terminates at mile marker 23.17. The total length of the project is approximately 0.42 miles. The project shall not include any bridge work within the project limits. The Chicopee (Route 116) Center Street portion consists of resurfacing of a southbound section from the West Street intersection to the Interstate 91 on-ramp. The project begins at SHLO Station 48%2B20 and continues south and terminates at Station 54+75. The total length of the project is approximately 0.10 miles. The project shall not include any bridge work within the project limits. The work includes the following: pavement milling and resurfacing with HMA pavement, removal of frame and grates, installation of new hook lock frame and grates, installing steel w-beam guardrail, installing painted pavement markings, installing reflectorized slotted pavement markers, traffic controls, and erosion/sedimentation control measures. The milling and paving operations shall be coordinated to pave and mill in each work shift.
