BOSTON- FORT POINT CHANNEL WATER TRANSPORTATION FACILITY CONSTRUCTION
The Fort Point Channel Ferry Facility (FPCFF) is a CA/T Project mitigation measure required to support development of Boston’s water transport system. The FPCFF is to provide ADA-accessible, public ferry service and public landing benefits for the westerly side of the Fort Point Channel. The project has been delayed for a variety of reasons, until recently because of conflicts with adjacent Transitway and private construction activities along with the Old Northern Avenue Bridge (ONA Bridge). The construction of this project is complex due to low clearance under the bridges along the channel and operational constraints.
The project consists of the construction of a fixed timber and steel multi-level deck and a floating barge system with ADA compliant ramps.
