SANDISFIELD- BRIDGE MAINTENANCE, S-03-033, ROUTE 8 (SOUTH MAIN STREET) OVER WEST BRANCH FARMINGTON RIVER (PHASE I)

This bridge is located approximately 2.5 miles north of the CT state line. This proposed maintenance contract includes stripping and replacing the wearing surface; repairing deteriorated deck section(s) as required; and applying epoxy bonding. It is estimated that approximately 3% of the of the deck will require full depth excavation, and another 25% may require partial depth excavation. Proposed work also includes installation of new steel bars, in kind, where reinforcing steel exhibits section loss; application of deck membrane; and approach slab repairs, excluding recently repaired joints. Spalling will be repaired in the backwalls, piers, and concrete railing. Two-stage construction is anticipated; with traffic management to consist of alternating one-way traffic with a temporary solar signal.
