DALTON- BRIDGE MAINTENANCE, D-01-005, ROUTE 8 (MAIN STREET) OVER EAST BRANCH HOUSATONIC RIVER

This bridge is located approximately 0.13 miles east of North Street. Proposed work includes repairing the deck by full and partial depth excavation, applying epoxy bonding, repairing sidewalk scaling, repairing cracks in the backwalls by pressure injection, cleaning debris in the bridge seats, and flushing the scuppers. It is estimated that approximately 3% of the of the deck will require partial depth excavation, and another 20% may require full depth excavation. Proposed work also includes installation of new steel bars, in kind, where reinforcing steel exhibits section loss; and repair of spalling in the south end of the east backwall. Two-stage construction is anticipated; with traffic management to consist of alternating one-way traffic with a temporary solar signal.
