DARTMOUTH- CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS ON ROUTE 6, FROM FAUNCE CORNER ROAD TO HATHAWAY ROAD

Route 6 (State Road) between Faunce Corner Mall Road and Hathaway Road (the third phase of the Faunce Corner Road corridor improvements) will be upgraded to improve congestion and safety along the project corridor. The project will incorporate a new traffic signal at Route 6 and Hathaway Road as well as introduce a coordinated signal system between Faunce Corner Mall Road and Hathaway Road. The project will reconfigure the offset intersection between Route 6, Tucker Road, and Champion Terrance. This reconfiguration will provide additional storage length on Route 6 approaching Tucker Road and restrict Champion Terrace to a right in right out movement. The project will incorporate longer turn lanes to improve capacity along the corridor. Sidewalks will be upgraded to 8’ in width to coincide with MassDOT’s Complete Streets to provide bicycle and pedestrian accommodations and promote the MassDOT Healthier initiative. Utility poles will be relocated and drainage improvements will be incorporated to the maximum extent practicable.
