SOMERVILLE- IMPROVEMENTS AT HEALEY SCHOOL (SRTS)

The project includes pedestrian safety improvements and signal upgrades at the intersection of Mystic Avenue and Temple Street. New signal equipment and countdown pedestrian indications will be installed at each crosswalk. The channelized right-turn lane from Mystic Avenue onto Temple Street will be removed and a bump-out will be constructed on the northwest corner of the intersection to improve pedestrian safety. Construction of this bump-out will require drainage modifications. A section of the scored concrete median on Mystic Avenue will also be reconstructed. Other intersection improvements include an asphalt pavement overlay and reprogramming pedestrian phases at necessary to meet MUTCD standards. These improvements will include the installation of ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps and MUTCD compliant pavement markings.
