MILTON- IMPROVEMENTS AT GLOVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE VICINITY OF CANTON AVENUE, BROOKS ROAD AND VOSES LANE (SRTS)
Planned improvements include the
construction of a sidewalk with granite curbing and tree wells within a wider paved apron along the
westerly side of the Turner Pond parking lot between Brook Road and the pedestrian bridge to the school
to eliminate the need for the existing portable concrete barriers and provide standard separation between
pedestrians and vehicles accessing the parking lot. The sidewalk along the west side of Canton Avenue
from Elm Lawn Street to Brook Road will be reconstructed to a consistent 5’ width with vertical granite
curb. The dense trees on the northeast corner of the intersection will be removed to improve sightlines.
Voses Lane between Canton Avenue and Brook Road will be converted to a one-way north-westbound
flow. Sidewalks will also be constructed along the southerly side of Voses Lane and on both sides of
Brook Road. The existing crosswalk on Brook Road just east of the Turner Pond parking area will be
removed and relocated to a mid-block location between Voses Lane and Canton Avenue with new
pedestrian flasher assemblies. An ornamental fence in the median on Brook Road between the raised
crosswalk and Canton Avenue will be installed to channelize pedestrians toward the relocated crosswalk.
These improvements will include installation of ADA-compliant wheelchair ramp, installation of MUTCDcompliant
signs and pavement markings, and minor drainage improvements.
