FALL RIVER- IMPROVEMENTS AT VIVEIROS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (SRTS)

The project is intended to make walking and bicycling a safer and more attractive alternative for children traveling to and from the school. The project proposes to construct a 6 foot wide sidewalk with vertical granite curb along missing sections on Slade Street and Dwelly Street between between Bay Street and Lewis Street. In addition, sidewalk will be constructed where missing along sections of Lewis Street. The project proposes a pavement mill and overlay on Dwelly Street and Slade Street, new MUTCD-compliant signs and pavement markings including “share the road” signs and sharrow pavement markings. To reduce pedestrian crossing widths and improve visibility of pedestrians, curb bump-outs will be constructed at the following intersections: Dwelly Street / Scott Street; Dwelly Street / Lewis Street; Slade Street / Lewis Street; Slade Street / Scott Street; So. Main Street / Dwelly Street; So. Main Street / Slade Street. Additional improvements will include installation of ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps, installation of MUTCD-compliant signs and pavement markings, and minor drainage improvements.
