LAWRENCE- IMPROVEMENTS AT BRUCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (SRTS)

The project includes constructing curb bump-outs with a landscaped buffer on Haverhill Street at the intersection with Milton Street. The curb bump outs will shorten crossings distances and reduce curb radii and vehicle turning speeds. The project also includes reconstructing 6-8’ wide sidewalks with granite curb along both sides of Milton Street between Haverhill Street and Lowell Street. Curb bump-outs and new ADA compliant wheelchair ramps will be provided along Milton Street at the intersections of Butler Street and Providence Street. Other improvements include removing the channelized right-turn lane from Lowell Street westbound to Milton Street northbound to reduce vehicle speeds and lane encroachment along Milton Street and providing a pavement mill and overlay within the limits of the project. These improvements will include the installation of ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps, installation of MUTCD-compliant signs and pavement markings, and minor drainage improvements.
