Project Description:
This narrow strip of land along the top of the dam between DSB locks and Lovejoy Wharf is an integral part of the CA/T Project’s New Charles River Basin Parks (“NCRBP”) 42-acre mitigation commitment. MassDOT transferred to DCR certain property interests in Cambridge parcels within the New Charles River Basin Parks (“NCRBP”) in late September 2014, in keeping with outstanding CA/T Project commitments. MassDOT is completing negotiations with DCR to transfer the remaining NCRBP property interests, located in Boston, which includes an unfinished triangular park parcel on the New Charles River Dam South Bank. In 2013 MassDOT confirmed that it remained committed to completing design, construction, & funding of the Dam South Bank parkland (“DSB”), which had to be removed at the last minute from the North Bank Bridge (“NBB”) (formerly CA/T Project C29F1) contract bid package in July 2009 to allow that ARRA project to move forward. parkland, access to I-93 and dam infrastructure for operations & maintenance, and DCR/police vehicular and boat parking/storage.
