NEWBURY- NEWBURYPORT- SALISBURY- RESURFACING AND RELATED WORK ON ROUTE 1
The project begins at the bridge over Mill River, which is on the Rowley/Newbury border. Roadway work shall meet with the existing lateral pavement joint made during a previous Route 1 resurfacing project, (approximate mm 76.546) and extends northerly, ending in Salisbury (mm 83.611). The length of the project is 7.065 miles. Work extends into Pond Street and Low Street for sidewalk reconstruction. No other work on the on/off ramps is proposed.
The project shall also include cement concrete pavement installation at the Route 1/Middle Road/Hanover Street intersection, reconstruction of the Newburyport Traffic Circle, traffic signal modifications, pavement widening and other work as required by the Engineer.
Related work consists of removing and disposing of guardrail along the mainline; replacing guardrail; proposed MASH approved guardrail end treatments; replacing all grates and covers with bolt down grates and bolt down covers; adjusting, cleaning and rebuilding drainage structures; removing and resetting granite edging; replacing all frames and grates; replacing any broken granite curb and edging; sidewalk and pedestrian curb ramp replacement at intersection of Route 1 and Low St./Pond St.; unclassified excavation; fine grading and compacting; pavement milling mulch for shoulders; removing and resetting signs; placing final pavement markings and incidental items and as required by the Engineer.
Bridge work shall include bridge pavement milling and resurfacing, bridge fascia repairs, armor joint repairs, and thrie beam bridge rail retrofit.
