PITTSFIELD- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, P-10-042, NEW ROAD OVER WEST BRANCH OF THE HOUSATONIC RIVER

The existing culvert at this location is a corrugated metal arch on concrete abutments. A temporary acrow-panel bridge was placed over the deteriorating culvert in the 1990’s. At the present time, the original culvert has completely failed, and a permanent bridge is needed. The proposed bridge replacement will likely be a three-sided frame under significant fill. The anticipated length (not span) will have to be fairly long due to the depth of fill required; and taller headwalls may also be necessary. The project has not yet been formally scoped.
