SWANSEA- IMPROVEMENTS ON ROUTE 6 (GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC HIGHWAY) AT GARDNERS NECK ROAD
Work on this project consists of traffic signal upgrades, geometric improvements, improved bicycle and pedestrian accessibility, signs, pavement markings, and/or geometric modifications. The intent of the project is to address safety concerns at this high crash location. Recommendations from the Road Safety Audit will be basis for design.

| Current Status: | The contractor plans to continue sidewalk grading and prepping for sidewalk paving on the southwest corner over the next several weeks. They will also continue drainage work project-wide. Traffic signal work expected to begin 7/28/25. Remaining sewer work on the east side of the project near the Venus De Milo restaurant is expected to continue the last week of July 2025, Detours of Gardners Neck Rd., along with various lane closures on Rte. 6, will be utilized to complete work. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 Am to 3:30 PM. Expect periodic lane closures and restrictions. Roadway closed to traffic. Detour in place. (as of 08/04/2025) |
