SWANSEA- IMPROVEMENTS ON ROUTE 6 (GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC HIGHWAY) AT GARDNERS NECK ROAD
Work on this project consists of traffic signal upgrades, geometric improvements, improved bicycle and pedestrian accessibility, signs, pavement markings, and/or geometric modifications. The intent of the project is to address safety concerns at this high crash location. Recommendations from the Road Safety Audit will be basis for design.

| Current Status: | The contractor plans to continue excavate for roadway widenings on the northeast corner over the next several weeks. They will also continue drainage and traffic conduit installation project-wide. Retaining walls on the south side of the project are expected to be completed by 6/20/25. A detour of the south side of Gardners Neck Rd., along with various lane closures on Rte. 6, will be utilized to complete work. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 Am to 3:30 PM. Expect periodic lane closures and restrictions. Roadway closed to traffic. Detour in place. (as of 06/17/2025) |
