SWANSEA- IMPROVEMENTS ON ROUTE 6 (GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC HIGHWAY) AT GARDNERS NECK ROAD
Work on this project consists of traffic signal upgrades, geometric improvements, improved bicycle and pedestrian accessibility, signs, pavement markings, and/or geometric modifications. The intent of the project is to address safety concerns at this high crash location. Recommendations from the Road Safety Audit will be basis for design.

| Current Status: | The contractor plans to continue installing drainage project-wide over the next several weeks. Curbing and sidewalk work is expected to continue on the northeast and northwest corners of the intersection during this time as well. Roadway widening of the northwest corner to be performed ahead of the curbing installation. Detours of Gardners Neck Rd., along with various lane closures on Rte. 6 will be utilized to complete work. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 Am to 3:30 PM. Expect periodic lane closures and restrictions. Roadway closed to traffic. Detour in place. (as of 10/01/2025) |
