Project Description:
NEW MARLBOROUGH- SUPERSTRUCURE REPLACEMENT OF THREE (3) BRIDGES, N-08-001, NORFOLK ROAD, N-08-017, LUMBERT ROAD, N-08-018, CANAAN-SOUTHFIELD ROAD OVER UMPACHENE RIVER
The proposed project consists of the rehabilitation of three municipally owned, structurally deficient, bridges carrying traffic over the Umpachene River. The superstructures for each bridge will be replaced and the substructures will be modified. The new superstructures will consist of steel beams with composite reinforced concrete decks, installed as Prefabricated Bridge Units (PBUs). The bridge substructures will be modified with precast abutment caps and precast approach slabs. Bridge N-08-017 will be widened to match the approach roadway width. The proposed approach roadway work includes profile modifications, milling and overlay of existing asphalt roadway pavement, full-depth roadway reconstruction, hot mix asphalt paving, installation of guardrail, and pavement markings. The bridges will be closed sequentially during construction and traffic will be detoured.
