CHARLEMONT- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, C-05-008, TOWER ROAD OVER CHICKLEY RIVER

This municipally owned, one-lane bridge consists of single span steel beams with open grate deck. It was originally constructed in 1939, but is currently closed to traffic. The original bridge had a curb-to-curb width of 14 ft and a span of 71 ft. Traffic volume data from 2011 indicates an average daily traffic of 100 vehicles per day. Current NBI data indicates a 3 mile detour is the alternate route. The proposed project consists of complete bridge replacement.
