SUNDERLAND- ROUNDABOUT CONSTRUCTION AT THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTES 116 (AMHERST ROAD) & ROUTE 47 (MAIN STREET)

The intersection of Route 116 and Route 47 has experienced several safety concerns and traffic delays. This project is located in the Town center, and is a major regional connector roadway. Route 47 is also part of the Franklin County Bikeway, and the Connecticut River Scenic Byway. The preferred alternative would convert the signalized intersection to a single-lane roundabout, resurface intersection approaches, and provide new pavement markings, sidewalks, wheelchair ramps and crosswalks.
